İsmail Al-Helou

  • He was born in Homs, Syria in 1955.
  • An artist of outstanding skills, his paintings are characterized with simplicity and proficiency.
  • His subjects are drawn from rural life and the uncomplicated world of childhood, which he depicts using bold lines, indicative of the expressionist school to which he belongs.
  • Ismail Al-Helou studied Urban Architecture at the Univeristy of Aleppo, graduating in 1980.
  • He also studied art at the Plastic Arts Centre in Homs, graduating in 1972.
  • He was taught by the artist Ahmed Darraq Al-Seba’i and is considered a devoted follower of the Kayyali and Seba'i schools.
  • He participated in a number of solo exhibitions as well as various group exhibitions in Syria.
